Hey all... for those of you that don't know, I have breast cancer. And size DDD boobs that have become even bigger with nursing, and now even bigger with the 25 # weight gain thanks to the steroids and lack of exercise (and the eating whatever I want because I have cancer dammit!!).

Anyway, I'm 99% sure I'm going to have a lumpectomy with a reduction on the other side. I'm thinking B cup. Dh thinks that is too small, and wants at least a C cup. I hope to lose a significant amount of weight (was just beginning to do that when I was diagnosed, now I weight 205 and am 5'4". I feel just awful!). I know that if I gain weight back, I will gain it in my boobs, and don't want to have that happen in the future and return to a D or DD.

Help me figure out what size to become!!!

I can't wait to trade in my utilitarian bras for something frilly and pretty!!

I've been a B and a C (C being the biggest I got between pregnancy and nursing) and if I had a choice it would probably be a B 1/2, if that makes any sense. A strict B always seemed too small (even when I was 105 lbs) but I wouldn't want to be much bigger than a C - then they'd start getting in the way....

I was a B cup before pregnancy and a C when i was BF. And now I am a -A.

So I would go with a C. But B 1/2 sounds perfect.

I tend to be a "live in the moment" type, so if I were you, I'd go with the C, because it'll be more proportionate to your current body size. Maybe ask for a "small C". It can be done, at least on the plastic surgery shows I've seen on Discovery Health Channel.

Whatever you go with, I wish you the best of luck in getting this resolved and getting healthy!

Hope everything goes well!! Once upon a happy time...I was a C cup. I think it's just *perfect*. Now I am a DD+, I don't really know, I have to go bra shopping. Toooooo big for this girl. I keep warning DH that once the babies are all out, mama is getting her boobies "fixed" I want my happy C's back.
Well I'm kind of kidding. I'll never have the surgery.
But if I could get Cs, I WOULD.
Ditto on the working with your current body size deal, plus it'd be a shock to go down to a B, I think.

Tell your DH that if he wants a C cup, he can get implants.

Seriously, it's your body. I don't understand why your DH is saying anything beyond "I support whatever you want to do with your body and I know you'll look beautiful."

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I'm going to go with whomever said a small C because it's more proportionate to your current body size. My body sized has fluctuated wildly over the years (20 to 12) but with the exception of pregnancy and the first 10 months or so of breastfeeding I've never been larger than a B. To this day I feel a C would be better proportioned (but I'm really tall with big hips) but you know the rest of your body size better than anyone else, obviously!

Good luck with the surgery and recovery!

I would go with a small C, I was a B in HS and a C till I was preggers then I went up to an E and I'm currently a D. I am hoping mine will settle at a C.

Wow, you have a great attitude, mama.

As a former DD (and I hope a future DD, current I ) I think either one sounds so terrif! I hope you will get a lot of enjoyment out of your new breast size, and a full recovery.

I'm also 5'4"

I started my twenties as a small B. Have progressed through all the cup sizes and am now a large C. IMO a small C was the best of the best. (Well, actually, I really LOVE the way "the puppies" look right now, but they are more of a hassle -- I need more support than I did before).

Large B/ Small C sounds just about right to me!

Sending you much post-op healing energy and all my prayers/ wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!

(Oh -- wanted to add: my MIL got an elective reduction to a B a few years ago -- from a triple D or so -- and she LOVES it! She's on the Small B side. She didn't want to ever wear a bra again. The healing process was tough, but worthwhile to her. Just so everyone knows... She's now lost a bunch of weight -- I'll ask her what the scar tissue's response to that is... )

(that's healing dust, not baby-dust, though you can have some of that if you want it, too )

I started off as a B went to a C and then afer weaning went to a A++.

I vote for C. B is nice but alittle small IMO. If you dont care for wearing bras I would go for a B.

I'm 5'8 110, 34 band size.

Well, FWIW, I have always wanted to return to my days as a 34B. I thought it was the perfect size. I think I was about 6 at the time. I don't even know what I am now, but my boobs are pretty much tucked into my waistband, so who cares.

Good luck with your cancer treatment. I hope everything goes well & you get pretty new boobies, to boot!

I REALLY think it has to do with your frame, and what kind of ideal body image for yourself that you carry in your mind. I 5'6" and have a C and a B, and I really prefer the B (which is what I started out with in both. One grew with breastfeeding, one didn't.) I hate that they are so mismatched (looks silly when I go bra-less or naked) and am really considering getting a breast reduction in the C side after I'm done breastfeeding. I have just always felt like the B matched my body type better. My husband of course prefers the C (typical : ) but that is honestly pretty insignificant compared to how I feel about it.

I'd go with a C to be more proportional, and I just like that size of breasts

Good luck!

Quee--just had to laugh about the tucked into your waistband comment! Owensmama---wanted to send you some healthy, happy vibes and ask if you've ever read any of Christiane Northrups writings on surgery??? Very informative and empowering if you've not...

I'd go for the B+....if I ever decided to take up exercising, I think I'd want them smaller than bigger, if I had a choice. Lots of to you!

Hey, me too!! I know that everyone's assymetrical, but a full cup size? Ridiculous!! I've actually always been lopsided (small B/large B) but with pg and bf'ing I'm at a normal B/big C now. When I'm done havin' babies, I'm doing somethin' to them!! Don't know what though. I waver between liking the B better or the C better.... *looking down....judging.... juggling....hmmmm*

Oh, for the OP... um, I don't know which one you should go for. OK fine, I vote for a SMALL C. Full yet still potential for perky.
