We had our third boy last night at 2:07am after only about 3 hours of labor. He was born at home in the water and is just perfect. 8 lb. 10oz. So far sleeping and nursing is going well. I'll try to post a pic and story soon, but we're both doing really well.

Wilder Talus' Birth Story.

So on Sunday, the 8th, I went to bed like any other night. I read to my six year old and snuggled him to sleep. I had been having a bad day. My mom had to leave earlier that day and I was just plain grumpy all day. I was just ready to go to bed and end the day. I really had no idea I would have a baby in my arms a few hours later. I really was feeling like I'd be pregnant forever. Once I was in bed I started having some mild crampy feelings but didn't think much of it, I had had the same sort of feeling a couple other nights. That was around 9pm. After about an hour I noticed that they really weren't going away and were starting to hurt a tiny bit more. After my third trip to the bathroom, I decided to go tell dh to fill the birth pool. He looked at me asked," is it time?" I said, "I'm not sure, I think so" After another half hour I decided to call the midwives and tell them tonight was the night. They decided to leave right away since it was going to take them an hour to get here. Called the doula next. At this point I knew it was labor but thought it could go on awhile. After everyone was here I started kind of freaking out because the pains were super bad but still coming so sporadically. I would have a ten minute break, then two back to back. My midwife checked me and I was a stretchy two with baby at about zero station. They suggested walking around. I got on the toilet, had a contraction or two, puked, and asked to get in the tub. Got in the tub had a serious couple of contractions and started grunting. What was this!? Why was I feeling pushy already? Midwife checked again and all I had was a lip. That was less than an hour from when they all arrived! Well I was so scared and worried about this part of labor my whole pregnancy, but it ended up being my best pushing experience of my three births. It was a perfect balance of the urge to push, while still having some slight control. After a few big pushes I started arching up out of the water and the midwife was sternly telling me to either get in or get out of the water. (Later she told me that's how baby's aspirate in the water) I got all the way in pushed and the head was out! I reached down and felt it. It was the most amazing thing ever. The soft head and hair flowing all around it. I had a little break before the next contraction and it was good to know I only had one more push. I pushed him out with the next one. He took some vigorous rubbing and talking to to start breathing, but he did. He was a little gurgly at first but cleared up in the next hour. My 10yo went and woke up my 6yo, who looked and announced, "it's a boy!". Our family is totally in love with this new little addition.
