...they're hard to resist.

I've been holding off on buying clothes for baby. I don't anticipate there will be a shower, but it's likely the grandmas will send a few things at Christmas.

However, there are some great sales going on before the holidays, and it seems like a good idea to take advantage of those. So today I bought 3 body suits (? don't know what to call them - they're one piece long sleeved, long legged), a onesie, and a bib, all for just $12. What a deal! And they're adorable.

Are you shopping or waiting?

waiting. After christmas is where all the good sales hang out. Plus, the spring line will be out soon, meaning our technically still winter babies ( I am in chicago, anything before July is considered winter to me) can be clothed on the cheap! Plus I have way too much clothing from DD and have no where for anything more. Need to do a big purging soon I think.

I'm planning to do some shopping soon. It might be this month, it might be next. Just depends on when we find the time.

We won't really be getting gifts. No shower and we've had several people say they are going to wait to send us a new baby present until we manage to move. Since the housing market here is at a standstill, the baby may be a toddler before we actually move, but nobody really cares. I think they are trying to use it as some incentive for us to complete our plan to move closer to family even though we have no control over the move date at this point.

So I'll be going shopping for clothes, despite the warnings everyone gives about not buying any tiny stuff because you will be inundated with gifts.

We were just given some clothes today from a friend at dh's work, and the clothes are cute! But still boyish.... *sigh* boys aren't as much fun to clothe as girls.

I am buying a few things. No one has mentioned baby showers and I am not really thinking they will, plus my tastes tend to run a whole different direction than most of the people who bought things for ds.

Last night I did break out the boxes of clothes I had put back that he used to wear. I almost got teary-eyed looking through the things he wore and the things he was too tiny to wear.

I need some btdt advice from moms of more than one, when Cy was a babe, he wore the size clothes for however many months old he was (at 3 months, he wore 3 month clothes, 6m at 6 months old, etc). How likely is it that this baby will be the same.
I am keeping out any clothes from newborn to 12 months and will store the bigger in under the bed tubs, the +12 months are going back into storage. I think I feel more clueless this time around than I did last time.

Concentrate on socks, hats and shoes for boys. The options are much better than you think. If you knit some fun hats and booties in the beginning you can change any regular outfit into something more fun.

Blue is great, but buy outfits are pieces in other colors (they are out there, just harder to find).

If you sew (I don't), you can make some fun things with neat fabric and basic patterns.

Some of my favorites:

Newborn socks:
These make a nice gift. They seem a little pricey, but my son wore them everyday from newborn to over a year. They stay on newborns and end up like ankle socks on your 1 year old.

These look like the same idea:

It seems like I've seen some similar shoes at other places like Old Navy.

I've bought a couple of things for DD, but not much. That being said I have a bunch of newborn and 0-3 things from DS that should work for her since they'll be born in the same season, and with DS growing so fast (he was in 18 month clothes at 5 months), I don't want to buy her things that she'll never end up using because I guessed what size she'll be when wrong.

I think we're mostly done with the couple of outfits we wanted to get her for now, though I do need to get her some t-shirts to go with her longies and shorties and a couple more pair of wool shorties. Other then that though, I've bought her half a dozen or so outfits and she'll wear DS' hand-me-downs at least till we hit warmer weather and I see how she is growing and what type of growth curve she ends up following.
