I don't see why you couldn't make them out of a thin suede or a old leather purse!

The ones I bought from someone on Etsy.com have corderoy on the bottom, but I've seen them made with leather and also the non slip fabric you can buy for jammie feet too.

Another idea I've seen is to paint the bottoms with puff paint. I keep meaning to make these, maybe for Christmas

Thanks for the resources! I was planning on drafting a pattern after the new year, but this will save some work!

If you are planning on using these for You little one inside only, I have made a few pair as slippers just to keep feet warm at night, dd yanks her sockes of but will leave these on. I use non-slip fabric from joanns the same stuff you find on footed sleepers. It only comes in white, but it washes nicely . I have used puff paint to but think it wears a little too fast. The non slip stuff is 3.99 a yard and i believe is only 20 in wide. I have the darling diaper moc pattern and it is worth paying for if you dont sew much and need to be walked through everything, HOwever the taking living pattern looked great. Hope that helps

I made these out of double layers of flannel and they turned out great. BUT, the smallest size is really small, it really is 0-3 months, maybe even 0-2! Easy pattern to make and even easier to upgrade to larger sizes.

Oh, and you can sew a layer of that non-skid material (mesh-like for under carpets and things) onto the bottom for a soft, non-skid surface to make these a little safer if you have hard floors and active kiddos. If you quilt it on the bottom it is fairly durable. (not as much as the pj foot stuff but more-so than puff paint)
