baby moving down?

748 Views 22 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  Peppamint
I am almost 34 weeks. My due date was dated using US but I was already 16 weeks so it could be off by as much as 2 weeks. Last night I had the wierdest feeling though like the baby's head was moving down into my pelvis-I could actually feel him nuzzling his head down into the narrower part of my uterus. I have not felt that before with either one of my other kids. I didn't think that babies really dropped with later pg. Anyone had a similar feeling? This morning I am feeling a lot more pressure on those ligaments in that area also-very wierd-

My doc confirmed that I had dropped two weeks ago. I was surprised too! He did say not to be concerned at all about it...

Sometimes even non-firstborn babies drop! I think these third babies like to just keep us on our toes if you ask me.

Yes, I am feeling the exact same thing at 33 weeks.

Not sure if my baby is totally engaged or not, but s/he is reallllly low right now, midwife confirmed it just a bit ago.
I'd guess those cervical twinges I've had are/were real and I'm gearing up for having a baby. I can't believe how far along we all are already! Our early May mamas are already 34/35 weeks along.

i actually felt this a while ago. I too had a u/s dating at 14 weeks, and I KNOW it is off. It is showing I conceived at a time hubby and i weren't together, lol! MY due date is at least 10 days earlier than theirs!
I am also dialated 3-4 already (33 weeks). BUT, I did this last time too and my good friend says that with this many babies my body is just *loose*, hehe

Makes for an uncomfy few weeks!
super low baby here too... i had some ctx. a week or so ago that were uncomfortable and mw said that she thinks the baby dropped and was nuzzling it's head and stimulated the cervix. I also often have twinges. And now the front of my pubic bone gets sore in the morning and after naps- weird!

i didn't think a low baby necessarily meant earlier delivery though... am i wrong? either way, it's making me get anxious about having all the "stuff" ready... even though if we were caught off guard (though hopefully not before 36 weeks!) we could rally pretty quick.. not too hard to find a diaper or a onesie around the house.

hmmmm... better order that birthkit though!

No, it doesn't unfortunately. I carried ds really low AND I was 4cm/90%/bag of waters bulging and I walked around that way from at least 37 weeks until ds was born at 39+6.
Now maybe if he had actually been engaged, things might be have been different, who knows.

I still find myself getting excited though.

I havn't really felt that but I definatly think she has droped bc my hips feel
wierd and I can tell my belly is lower.
I've felt that the head was already in my pelvis several times. i've been carrying low the whole pg. lots of pressure and my hips are definitely expanding!
I think she's dropped!
Just last night I was telling DH how great I was feeling, normal aches and discomforts but that it has been not terrible. Starting this morning, I have been having a hard time walking. Walking up stairs is currently easier than just walking forward. She is just in a different place in my body. Lots more pelvic pain, and I think she is facing the right way (first babe was posterior). When I feel what seems to be fast hand movements, she makes my butt cheeks shake.
Also more cervic pain.
I only have 5 weeks to go. Holy Sh*t. I have only 5 weeks to go. How many weekends is that to get everything ready???? ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I hear ya! I have six weeks to my due date but the way I feel it's hard to imagine making it (though I did it last time!).

Okay, so I had forgotten this part of pregnancy, but you know when baby's head is so low it's on your cervix and they move your head around and you get a little, um... sorta stimulated?
I'm laying there almost asleep going WHAT is going on here?! Duh.

It feels like when mine sucks her thumb in there, her elbow is scraping my bladder. When we took a walk yesterday I had success forcing or holding him/her up out of my pelvis, so I could walk faster than a waddle. Wouldn't have worked without dh to push the stroller, though.

Can I join your freak out?
It just hit me this week, I think because this is my last work week and now I can really sit down and think about what I need to do.

I asked DH if my stomach looked lower and he just can't tell. It looks lower to me, feels lower too. And my pelvis is pretty darn hurty. Low pressure in my abdomen coupled up with oncoming AF type crampiness at times, and what seems like those cervical twinges you guys are talking about. Plus this whole brand new renewal of having to pee right after peeing.
I think I can make a pretty good case for thinking that the babe has wriggled down lower.

I am with you ladies! 5 weeks to go....my guess date is around the corner! I work for one more week, but I really don't like wobbeling all over the office.....luckily my co-workers are sweet and attentive. I have that "pins and needles feeling" in my pelvis and the start of *rushes* aka contractions. Oh yes, and a tickle behind my public bone, which I think it baby having a little fun!

This is my first baby, and I know there is NOTHING in the world that can prepare me beyond working positive birth stories and nesting to my hearts content!

Wishing everyone safe, gentle, and speedy deliveries (once you reach full term!)!!!

You do make a good case!

I'm totally with ya on the peeing. Oh.my.gosh. I swear I peed all freakin' day long yesterday!
Maybe I should just get some depends.

Same here-I have to pee-even when I dont actually have to pee! On the plus side I stopped having heartburn! These last few days my chronic reflux has all but dissappeared! I guess less room down low means more room up top

OMG! I'm still peeing like a Russian racehorse (to quote dh
). I went to a friend's house yesterday and only had to use her bathroom three times in two hours.

Ours has dropped and gone back up a few times. I know when he's low, because of the having to pee...and then he pinches off my urethra or something so it requires actual effort to pee. Normally you just release, I have to push.
