Let's talk baby play gyms. I think dd is old enough now to enjoy one, and I'd like to get her something fun to look at while she's laying on her back. Do you have one? Why or why not? Which one do you have? Do you like it? Why or why not?

I have a Tiny Love and my baby loves it. she has been laying on one since she was about 2m old. She gets a lot of enjoyment out of it. It was money well spent! (i did see some discounted on clearance at Target the other day, check yours!)<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">
We have one. We started using it around two months but she didn't really get into it until about 3 months. For a while she LOVED it, but lately has seemed a little less interested (she prefers her exersaucer now). These days we use it mainly when I'm changing her diaper. Overall, I'd say it was worth the money, but not an absolute necessity.
We have a tiny love one, too, and our baby (nearly 8 weeks old) is just beginning to enjoy it for about 5 minutes at a time. I put it on the kitchen floor and step around it while sauteing something (and not wanting to wear the baby.) I know Once Upon a Child here were we live, Persephone, has some used ones in fine shape.
we also have a tiny love gym, and ds LOVES it--we started putting him in it for short periods when he was about 4 weeks old, and he seemed to like looking at the toys (esp the mirror). Now at 8 weeks he is really actively playing with it by waving his arms and kicking his legs.
I have one like <a href="http://www.islandtreasuretoys.com/musina.jpg" target="_blank">this</a> It's pricey but high quality and will last thru many babies. I was lucky enough to get it from a friend at my baby shower for my first baby. Anything they can focus on, reach for a grasp is great! My babies used it for the first 6 months.
drummer's wife, do you find your dc getting bored with the toys? Someone mentioned that to me as a disadvantage of that one, since you can't switch them out.<br><br>
Seems like it's betwen that one and the tiny love one... bonus for the tinyl love gym, it's collapsable!<br><br>
eheclt, of course! I have a ton of stuff to take there anyway, I'll look while i"M there!
My DC loved theirs. THey are both too big for it now and I now use it for the little one I babysit. I love that they can roll or crawl away from it as they get more mobile and it is NOT a baby container. THey are free to play when they wish.
My ds started really enjoying his at maybe 2 or 3 months old. Before he was crawling, it was really the only place we had to put him down (besides just on a blanket on the floor.) We have a Tiny Love one. It has jungle animals on it. Sorry, I don't have a link, and it is a couple years old, so it may not even be available anymore. I LOVE the giraffe, and so does ds. (It has big googly eyes. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">) The mat plays music, too. DS loves to turn the switch on and off. For a while he used to look in the mirror. Now he loves to reach up and pull the animals off. They are held on with the plastic links. He is able to yank them off and I have fun watching him! When he was tiny, I couldn't even picture him reaching for the animals. Now he loves to move around the house holding the giraffe by the neck. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> The gym is just another spot for him to linger a bit during his "exploring his world" adventures.
We have a tiny love one with the black and white pattern that I got at our twins club tag sale for $2, including the toys, a Lamaze mirror and a cloth book. I bought some extra rings because I had two babies playing at once.<br><br>
My girls loved it from the minute I brought it home (they were 2 1/2 months) until 6 months old when they wanted to be more upright. It was so fun to watch them go from batting at the toys, to grabbing to getting in thier mouth. Each dd had a favorite toy from the gymini that they still like now and that will be going in thier keep sake box.<br><br>
FYI - There were a ton of people selling the gyms at the tag sale and it's coming into twins-club tag sale season, so you might want to see if there is one local to you. Great place to get stuff cheap.
