Hello - I just wanted to take a sort of survey of what kind of healthy supplemtents you all are giving your babies...

I have an 8mo. dd and she is BF'ing and eating solids (she eats like a horse). I make all her baby food and thus far she only eats homemade (and ground) organic oatmeal, brown rice cereal, carrots, peas, green beans, bananas, peaches and avacoados (when I can find them...). My mom has supplied us with Lifestart probiotic powder and she gets about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon each day.

I am interesed to know what other supplements I should or could be giving her.. what is safe.. what amounts to give etc..

what do you mama's do???

My two babes were ff, but I didn't realize DD would need probiotics to offset the formula
She did remarkably well, was weaned to goat milk at 12 months and now at 6 yrs old, still does not much care for dairy. She'll put a little goat milk on her oatmeal.
When she was almost 2, I found a great aloe juice with tons of nutrients and probiotics; she's been on that ever since; as much as she wants when she wants it. She also takes a blend of vitamins and antioxidant rich supplements every day. She has pretty severe allergies to the outdoors; without the extra antioxidants, she is miserable.
YDS started right off with the aloe juice in his formula when he was 3 days old; I added a multivitamin when he was comfortable with a cup (about 11 months) and then an antioxidant at about 13 months when it became obvious that he too suffered from environmental allergies (chemicals in cleaning supplies set him off when we spent a week with a friend who uses LOTS of nasty "cleaners")
BUT, if I had been successful at inducing lactation enough to give them more than a couple ounces of breastmilk, I would not have started vitamins and supplements till they were on solids and off breastmilk altogether...

ETA: DD gets flaxseed meal in her oatmeal, DS grabs fish oil caps from the freezer whenever he wants them.
