I was going through the same thing myself & decided on ASL. As other people have said the baby will adjust the signs on his own anyway. My ds is 11 mos & just started signing back & the 3 signs he is using are all Adjusted ASL signs.. Milk, momy, nurse. I also found there are a lot more book/video references for ASL and easier to find in the library. Good luck
