i have so far only been wearing Sam in his sling a couple of hours a day, as when he is in it, he crashes out completely. i would like to wear him more as he is so content in there,and I am more able to deal with the demands of a 2 yr old as well (!!), but I am concerned that it would affect the way he sleeps at night. Right now he'll sleep for 5-6 hours straight which is great, as I find it really hard to cope with the two of them when I am sleep-deprived.

Does anyone successfully wear their baby for several hours in the day, and have them sleepa t night as well, or is that too much to hope for?! Right now he is awake a lot in the daytime, but he is grouchy and tired, but won't let himself fall asleep.

We have had the same problem (sleeping great at night, grumpy during the day sometimes because he won't sleep) and I have worn him in the sling for hours at a time, and it hasn't disrupted his night time at all! If anything, when he gets better rest during the day, he sleeps more peacefully at night! I say if it works for you, go for it! Which sling are you using btw? I have a new native that I'm using right now while he's tiny and I get a headache when I wear him in it for too long(pulls on my neck somehow). Not sure I'm doing it right.

thanks for the reply Heather- I have been slinging Sam the last couple of days and he sleeps fine at night as well. Wonderful.

I have a Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch sling, which is great. i used to use it for my 2 yr old before I got pregnant- I carried him on my hip in it. Now I lay Sam in it and he is right in front of my belly, so it is very womb-like and he loves it. I have had no backache from it. They have a website if you want to check it out;
