Hmm...I remember a store called Kangaroo Korner located in the cities, but I think they operate strictly online. Their URL is http://www.kangarookorner.com/

I know there are a couple of Maya Wrap distributors located in the cities, you can always check out their website http://www.mayawrap.com/s_distributors.php#Minnesota
to find one. Most distributors would be happy to give you a demonstration of their products.

To be honest, I've never seen a sling or Mei Tai in a store. I see tons of those Nojos and Snuglis (which I can't stand!), but never a nice unpadded sling.

I was just going to ask this myself! I got a sling at Peapods but it hurts my already compromised upper back. As far as I know, Peapods does not carry Mei tais. Just slings and wraps. But you might want to call them to double check that.

I met someone the other day who let me try on her Freehand Mei Tai and it was great, but I was hoping to not have to order online because then it would take longer to get it.
There is an online store for another company that is based near my home, but I've contacted them twice before and no reply. Left msg yesterday, we'll see if they call me back.

I'm checking out the NINO link right now!! Do you know if there would be anyone there that sells the Mei tais?

The online store that I found in Lakeville has moved to Colorado - it was called Attached to Baby. I am so sad that they moved - why don't stores carry Mei Tais?? UGH!!!

If you're interested in a Mei Tai, I HIGHLY recommend coming to our next NINO meeting~
It's on Monday, August 14th at 10:15am, meeting at the Hamline Public Library in St. Paul's hamline-midway area off Snelling Avenue.
There's lots of slings/wraps/mei tais/pouches available to try and they'll do carrier chatter and help you make a decision about which style carrier you'd like to try.
(I couldn't decide between a freehand or a babyhawk and went to a meeting and tried both. I decided on a BH because I like more of a "framed" carrier!)
Then you can order a carrier online with confidence after trying it on, and getting opinions from other babywearers!
Good luck!

I do know that Peapods in St. Paul sells the ERGO baby backpack as does Linden Hills Co-op Home store in Linden Hills (MPLS).

peapods is great but they don't have mei tai's....

I highly recommend www.attachedtobaby.com
Angela is awesome...she used to live in Lakeville until this summer. She has a wonderful return/exchange policy if the item doesn't work out for you and she also has customer support online to help you with your babywearing questions...

I have bought lots from her...

If you are wanting to try lots of different type slings you can always go to a local NINO mtg and try some there....
here are their sept mtgs
