Babywearing while exercising?

667 Views 9 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Sharlla
Is it possible? Anyone done it? Specifically, running or jogging? (Walking would be easy!)... It would be a couple weeks, but I would like to start jogging again once DC is born, and I'm wondering if I can use my wrap to bring the baby along or if I will need a stroller?

I'm a runner and can't imagine babywearing and running. I can't imagine it even when "power walking." It seems like it would be very jarring for the baby, and the added weight would be bad for your knees. Running is already quite hard on the body!

Maybe somebody else knows better.
: "Shaken Baby Syndrome".

Stairmaster type thing, low impact, maybe but absolutely do not wear a baby running!

I am a HUGE baby wearing advocate, but I would never even consider running while wearing a baby. That seems very dangerous to me. I'd get a jogging stroller and use that when baby is old enough (or the kind you can put an infant carseat on if that's okay for running).
yeah I would say don't run, but I bet you could do squats and lunges while babywearing! kinda likek holding dumbells while doing that except it's on your front!
I love babywearing, but I also love my jogging stroller. I'd just get a good jogging stroller for running, it's worth it. If you want to exercise w/ your baby amazon.com has several exercise dvd's that can be done with your baby. I have the infantastic ones and they're fun for rainy days.
I agree, running doesn't sound like a good idea. But, I used to do yoga while babywearing.
i walked really hard while babywearing and my knees and hips were shot the next day!

NO!!!!

Sorry to be so vehement, but there was a case I read about fairly recently where a dedicated jogger and new daddy took his baby out jogging with him.

The baby fell into a coma and the parents, horrified, rushed him to the hospital where he died...of shaken baby syndrome.

The guy was devastated. He'd wanted to share his love for the sport with his child and just never, never thought it could hurt his baby.

PLEASE USE A STROLLER.

Hope this helps.

If I want to run or rollerblade DS goes in a jogging stroller, I think jogging with a baby could be dangerous for them. Walking is fine though, I walk most days with him on my back.
