I've read that some of you use a "dry pail" and just put bac-out on poopy diapers to keep from staining. Do you dilute the bac-out? Is the dry-pail (i am trying a wet/dry bag) really as good as soaking the dipes?

I use Bac-Out on the dipes in my dry pail. It works well for me, but I can't compare it to using a wet pail b/c I've never used a wet pail. I haven't been diluting my Bac-Out but am beginning to suspect that maybe I should (going through it waaaay too quickly). Any other users out there who can answer that question?

I've recently started using Bac-Out (undiluted) regularly, as well as upping how often I wash my dipes (and, therefore, decreasing the size of the load). This has really seemed to help with stains. My DS is still 99% BF'd, so we're not dealing with solid poos here, just the liquidy kind. I just soak the area with Bac-Out and then toss it in the dry pail. The only problem I'm having with my routine is making sure all the suds are gone. I'm getting a bit of hemp stink every now and again, and so I need to tweak that bit of it.

Our son is 19 mo, so we deal with the kind of poos that need attention before the diaper goes in the wash. We shake, scrape, or rinse what we can easily get into the toilet. Sometimes this is all ov it, so we throw the dipe in the pail with no bac-out. Othertimes there is some poo left on the diaper--then we spray with diluted bac-out. I don't measure when I mix up the bac-out solution. I remember reading someoone else uses 1:6. That sounds good. I might use a little more bac-out than that. Be generous when spraying the soiled diaper with bac-out. Then throw it in the pail. We do diaper laundry every other day.

I have never wet-pailed so I can't compare using bac-out and dry-pailing to that, but we have been happy with what we do.

I fill a spray bottle with half Bac-Out & half water. After I get whatever I can off messy diapers, I mist them well with the diluted Bac-Out & toss them into a seperate wet bag. I do a low-water prewash on cold to get the rest of the BFP out of the poopy diapers, then wash all the dipes. If they've sat overnight, I let the prewash soak for 10-20 minutes first (that's as close as I get to a wet pail).

HTH!
