Has anyone heard of the bachflower essences? What do you think of them, do you find them helpful? I guess I'm also really wondering for those who tend to have a low level/free floating anxiety (so looking at agrimony or aspen essences).

Just curious....thanks.

Hi! I use Bach flower remedies. My favorite is the Rescue Remedy formula. It really works and it's great for anxiety. I use it before I've got something stressful to do and it relaxes me. I think it's a great product. I've dabbled in a few other remedies and they all seem good.
Thanks Chrissy!

Can you tell me a little more about how you take it? (how much, how frequently, how quickly you notice the improvement)

Also do you know if it's effective for more of a generalized anxiety (the way you would take zoloft or something like that)?

Thanks!

We have used Bach's Rescue Remedy with our daughter, who has anxiety issues, and it works. I know several parents who also report good results. For short term, occasional relief, I highly recommend it.

If you're dealing with a chronic problem, though, this may not do it. We were giving our daughter Rescue Remedy daily until we took her to a homeopath. The homeopath said Rescue Remedy could be used along with homeopathic remedies, but once the homeopathic remedy addressed the problem, Rescue Remedy should not be needed very often. She was right. Rescue Remedy is still our band-aid of choice on particularly hard days (about once a month now), but the homeopathic remedy is what "cured" my little girl.

Have you checked out Bach's website? Not sure of the address, but a web search will bring it up. They have a lot of good information there.

Good luck,

I use it in spray form. I just spray a few little shots in my mouth when I'm feeling anxious. I think it works in a few minutes. Like Tara said, if your anxiety is more constant, it might not be the best way for you to go. You may also want to try chamomile tea, yoga for relaxation, or some of the other Bach Remedies. I've been to their website too and it does have good information.
Take care!
Tara - I'm curious what the homeopathic remedy was for your daughter? If you don't mind sharing.

Just so it doesn't seem like I'm dying with anxiety, it's just something that rears its' head from time to time. But I do tend to be wound a little tighter than I would like. I do drink chamomile tea and do yoga, as well as running 5x a week to address the anxiety. But for whatever reason, it just hasn't been enough lately. And I guess I'm just tired of feeling this way, but I really don't want to go the traditional route...KWIM?

Thanks Chrissy and Tara for your replies, I appreciate it!

Oh and P.S. I want to begin going to a homeopath dr., but the first appt is 350!! , we just can't afford that right now.

I hear you about the money! The first appointment for my daughter was $200, and monthly follow-ups are $75. We really needed expert guidance, though. My daughter has special needs, and in addition to the anxiety, she was having severe sleep issues (waking up screaming for 20 minutes at a time 3-4 times per night).

We started with 30X Silica. Then, when her sleep issues got better, switched to Tuberculens (sp?). We just tweaked her remedy again, but my mind is a blank on what we used. The thing about homeopathic remedies is that if the remedy isn't right for the individual, it won't help. So my daughter's remedies probably won't help you, but I certainly don't mind sharing.

One other thought that occurs to me -- have you looked into aromatherapy? We use lavender essential oil regularly, and it has been a lifesaver. I know some of the citrus scents are also mood-lifters. Between the Bach Flower Remedy, the homeopathic remedies, the aromatherapy, the classical music, the yoga, etc, etc, our little girl is doing much better with her anxiety.

Best of luck,

I find them very helpful. I figure it's worth the money because I find my symptoms lessen quicker then any thing else I've used. Plus they smell good. And you can use them on your pets...a few drops behind the ears does wonders for nervous animals.

Yeah, I kinda suspected as much about the individual nature of homeopathy. I figure maybe by the end of summer we will be out of debt and I can justify spending the money. It's not like I'm dysfunctional. If it was that far I would go now. I guess I'm just tired of the low-level anxiety...KWIM.

That's so fantastic though that you have found someone that has been able to help your daughter!

Good idea about the pets, do they have anything for pain in the butt dogs? :
