Hi Ladies,

Well, it has been an incredibly crazy few weeks.

I received my finalized divorce papers 3 days before leaving the country. I have been granted full, sole custody of ds and X will assume all responsibility for all joint debt and house (granted, he didn't have much other choice on the the financial side). I am incredibly blessed with this entire situation.

We moved! The flight was REALLY long, but ds did exceptionally well, especially for a 17 month old. Everyone sitting around us were so surprised at his behavior! That's my boy!

These first few days have been rough on ds. It is a huge transition for him. He is used to a quiet home with just me and him, now we are with my INCREDIBLY loud father (he is partially deaf, in addition to just being a loud person
) and people around on a daily basis. So, he has been really clingy and refuses to let me out of his sight. This afternoon is the first time that he went to my mom, on his own accord, and it seems as though he is finally getting back to his normal, cheeky self! Thank goodness!

It is amazing how much easier it is to be a single parent with so much help around. It is so fabulous!!!!

Being back in the US is really strange. I went to the grocery store on Saturday for a couple of specific items and became so overwhelmed with all the choices and the sheer size of these places. Plus, I ended up buying so much more than I actually needed/wanted.
Talk about reverse culture-shock...man, everything seems so strange and I just don't feel like I fit in anymore.

So, West Coast Mamas, let's plan a get together for early next year! I am so excited to be meeting with you all!

Mocha: I might be in Seattle the first weekend in March. My mom and grandma are going up for a sewing exhibition and asked if ds and I wanted to join them.

Yay Heather! I'll be looking forward to meeting you sometime soon. I am out of school until March, so February looks like a good possibility. Here's to hoping for a smooth transition to state-side living

The travelling was really nice.

One of the greatest things about Europe is that you only have to drive a couple of hours (at least a couple of hours in Holland
) and you are in another country/culture! I sure will miss it.

I am so glad you are here and everyhting went okay. I can relax now, because I was still worried that your ex would try to pull something to keep you there.

I wished I lived on the west coast so I could meet all of you!! Maybe I can plan a road trip...

I remember the reverse culture shock when I came back to Canada from México. Hamburger helper, and shake n' bake weren't in the import section. I wanted to eat dairy queen everyday (I was really prego) and public bathrooms were so nice!! It took some time to get use to. I was really overwhelmed for a while! I feel for ya!
I'm glad to hear that everything went well! Good Luck with your new life in the USA.
Best Wishes

Erin
