diarrhea and it means nothing??<br><br>
Today at my appointment they checked my cervix and she said its not even open, and doesnt feel like I'll go anytime soon. I had my amniotic fluid levels checked and they went up to 34 (two points) since Friday <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> She said the baby weighs 6lbs 14 oz which cracks me up because I'm 36w2d and Ds was born at 36w0d and weighed 6lbs 14 oz!! She said because of how far I am from the hospital and because of my high fluid levels that if I'm dilated at all next week they'll probably schedule an induction. I dont want one, I'm scared soooo scared of needing a c section, or any interventions.<br><br>
I've had really bad cramping constant, never going away for 2 days and I've been (TMI!) poo-ing 4-5 times a day...Also, Little One's movement has slowed waaaaay down. I'd like to keep him in until 37 weeks (this sunday) but not long enough they keep pressuring me.<br><br>
oh and to top things off, my mom called and told me I can't have the baby this week because she's really busy at work. When I reminded her I wasnt allowed to have the baby last week either, because of her birthday she got mad. I'm not happy about having to leave DS with her anyway, but I have no other choice. The lady who was supposed to watch him decided to extend her trip 2 more weeks, and the other couple and their kids are ALWAYS sick. and not like sniffles, like this week they all have horrible rashes and swelling of their limbs, combined with puking and diarrhea. I don't want DS over there because he might get it and then give it to New Baby. Grrrr...who'd have thought my creating life would be so inconvenient for everyone else <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">:

I'm a little confused. The MW/OB wants to induce now? I don't get why, is there a reason?<br><br>
Maybe if you can wait the next 2 weeks the other lady can still watch your ds...?

I'll bet it's not diarrhea/cramping for nothing though. If I had a quarter for every time I saw a mama report no dilation/etc and then have the baby the next day...

HUGS!! Don't lose hope!! I'm willing to bet that your body is gearing up for something super important.<br><br>
BAH on others telling you that you 'can't' have the baby. Tell your mother that you will have the baby when the baby wants to arrive and since the baby is conveniently tucked away from the phone that he/she can't and won't make a scheduled appt to come into the world.

I've read that fluid levels peak by 36 weeks, so the good news is it shouldn't increase and it could go down a little from this point on. I think your doctor's fear is if your water breaks and of cord prolapse and that's why she wants to maybe induce? The doc needs to look at more than just your dilation to tell if you are an optimal candidate for induction....the baby needs to be be low in the pelvis as well or you'll increase your odds of needing a c-section because the baby won't come down or of cord prolapse if they break your water and the baby is still floating. I'm sure she'd check that as well....surely she would. Right?<br><br>
As far as the diarrhea....I had that with both my pregnancies the day before I went into labor, so you might beat the induction!

They told me that because of the cord collapse thing I have to be induced. Because I live so far from the hospital if my water broke while I was dilated it could cause the cord to collapse. But if I'm NOT dilated they won't have to. However, I will talk to my dr next week, this again, was just the nurse practitioner. I tell ya! This is getting old.

Your mom is so out of line saying those things to you. Sheesh. Glad she's willing to look after him for you despite her busy schedule <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes">, but that doesn't give her the right to tell you when to have your baby. What the heck?<br><br>
Hope you stay undilated a bit longer so you don't have to be induced. It might happen! Who knows? You're under stress right now, there's a chance the diarrhea isn't baby-related...

Sending Closed Cervix vibes your way........and nerves alone have given me loose stools, so there definitely could be a reason other than impending labor. I had already been dilated to a 3 for WEEKS when I went into labor, so you could have a long way to go. I know it helps me to get more information for those just-in-case situations to help me relax and feel prepared, so maybe ask your doc what to do if your water does break on its own at home. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this so close to the end. You should be relaxing and nesting. : (

Friend of mine went to her 38 (I think?) week appt and was closed, high, and thick. Came home, cried, ate dinner, and went to bed. She wasn't impatient, she had horrible pubic separation and the pain that goes with. Was holding a baby by 7am!

FWIW, I had constant diarrhea the last MONTH before ds2 was born. It certainly didn't mean he was coming soon!<br><br>
So is your baby actually high? Cause if the baby is already engaged, then the fluid levels don't matter.

The baby is still very high. I'm nesting like crazy so hopefully that makes him uncomfortable enough to think about making his arrival this weekend...
