I was planning on switching to training pants or crotchless pants, but it seems that maybe we should wait a little bit since dd is starting to walk and plops down on her butt fairly often. She likes not having diapers but then doesn't like plopping down on the tile floor so much. It's rather hard on the bare butt.

My son has been wearing soft thick cotton underpants since 5 months. Its hard to find them small. i found alot used in thrift stores and was able to find some small sizes at alocal kids store. They are fairly absorbent and keep babys bum warm. On bad days when my son is teething and doesnt respond to cues or we are taking the bus i put plastic pants over them to keep the pee from trickling around. You can also buy cotton underwere with a plastic outside coating that are somewhat expensive but worth having for certain occasions.

Yes, I am missin' the nice padding of a dipe as well. My ds is 12 months and beginning to walk and we have nothing but hardwood floors. I've just bought some cotton trainers and they provide a little protection. Hoping to score some more at the local thrifts though...almost $6 a three pack!
