I am tandem nursing my 5 week old and 27 month old. Things are great with the newborn. Not so good with the toddler.

He has a bad latch and his top teeth are leaving teeth marks every time he nurses. It HURTS! I have tried having him relax his bottom jaw so he isn't clenching so tightly. As well as having him open really wide when he latches. And relatching when it's not right.

Nothing is helping. He is getting his molars, which I understand can cause a lot of latch issues. But he has been getting molars for months, so I don't have any hope of it getting better any time soon.

Is there anything else I can do? I have a friend that suggested trying a nipple shield, but I don't know if it would help/if he would be willing to start using one at 27 months.

I am at my wits end and ready to wean him, which I don't want to do. But it hurts so much that I just can't take it much longer.
