Hi,
So I have an ugly balcony with no greenery.
Am researching what's the best thing to go on a balcony for a garden.

Any tips, anything at all are welcome. FYI: average max. temperature of our areas ranges form 6C in January to 22C in July, some times can be a few degrees below 0C for a few days. southwest BC so cloudy, grey skies not much sun, generally depressing rainy weather, so don't know what plants needs not much sun.
The balcony in south exposure and covered by the next floor.
We'd like a mix of edible and greenery.

Don't know where to start re: planting and in what!

Come on over, I have a lot of resources in the first message here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=876366

We range from balcony gardeners to traditional gardeners who have some containers to extend their area. I am a porch/paint bucket gardener myself.
