My pepper loving son picked out some banana peppers to grow in the garden. The problem is, I'm not sure when we are supposed to pick them!

They're pretty big now and bright yellow but one seems to be turning orangish. Do we pick them while yellow or do I wait for them to get orange? Since they are *banana* peppers I thought they'd be yellow so the orange is throwing me for a loop,

Help?

You can harvest them yellow, or orange-ish or red-ish, what ever you prefer
Taste one to see if it is bitter before you harvest a bunch.

Wait... Are they hot ("hungarian wax") or sweet? If they are hot, they get hotter as the color deepens.

They're supposed to be sweet

One of them is fairly orange this morning. Owen keeps asking me to pick them and I keep telling him I don't know
Ok, thanks. We'll pick that one this afternoon and see what it tastes like
