It's possible that I had a very early loss last week at 4.5 weeks. My doc said there is no reason not to try again this month, so I'm still charting my BBT. My temps are so erratic though... my chart doesn't look at all like what I'm used to seeing at this point in my cycle. I'm concerned that I won't be able to detect if and when I O. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it just hormone levels evening out? How long will it take my temps to stop bouncing around?

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

I am so sorry for your loss. I am in kind of the same boat as you are. I had an early loss last week. I think I was about 5-6 weeks along. I got a BFP on Monday but then started bleeding on Friday. I had an extra test so I took it and got a BFN. I bled pretty heavy for 3 days and today I have slowed down to a light AF day. This was my first preg. so I did a lot of online research. I think that it takes a few days for the hormones to regulate themselves. I think that you have to factor in the stress and emotional upset of the loss and residual hormones that are lingering in your body. So it would be normal for your temps to be erratic. My advice would be to just keep charting and use a OP kit. I bet your temps will slowly return to normal by your next cycle and then you will be right back on track. Good Luck!

Thanks for responding, OakTreeMom... I'm sorry to hear about your loss too.

My BBT chart looks like a toddler scribbled all over it! The temps are minutely getting closer together though... so I'm hoping it will even out soon. Everything has just been so strange and unusual... its like I don't know my body anymore.

Did you get some vaginal swelling too? That's the other lingering bit that is bugging the heck out of me. I'm entering what would normally be my fertile window... and sex is definitely not comfortable! It would be so much easier to handle the emotions from the mc if my body would just behave itself!

Anyways, thanks for your thoughts and support. Best of luck to you too!

I had some bloating and just felt "full". As far as vag. swelling I am not sure. We have not attempted sex yet because I am still bleeding. How long did you bleed after your MC? I thought I was slowing down today but when I got home I was still passing come clots. I have been bleeding for about 3 days. I really want to get started again TTC but we cant actually do that if I am still bleeding. I am just so frustrated. And I cannot get my midwife to call me back. Would you tell me a little about your MC and what to expect? I am a bit lost because this was my first pg. and I am traveling down an unknown road. Thanks!

I know you didn't ask me, but I will share my experiences.

My first loss was at 18 weeks. It was like having a baby (water breaking, contractions, etc), and the bleeding afterward lasted on and off for 16 days. It alternated heavy bleeding, light flow, spotting, then nothing, then light flow and spotting all over again. I thought it would never end.

The second was at 4w6d, and it was just like a normal period - 4 days of bleeding with about 3 of spotting/light flow.

The third was at 6w3d and the cramping/contractions lasted 2 days. The bleeding lasted about 12 days, but the last 5 were just spotting.

I just spent a while staring at your chart, and your temps don't look wacky to me. They look like they are still in the pre-O range that you had the past two cycles. They are not nearly as close-to-flat at they were in your previous cycles, but I think you'll probably still be able to detect a clear thermal shift. It looks like your temps typically go well about 98 after ovulation, and there is still plenty of room for them to do that.

I can't speak about BBT after early loss, but I started charting a week after my son was still born at 36 weeks and my temps were pretty crazy, and very, very low. I was also taking prescription sedatives and sleeping pills for a while, and to be completely honest, drinking a lot. I was wasn't sleeping well at all, couldn't sleep at all unmedicated, and when I did sleep I had terrible nightmares and restless sleep. So, if you are experience any problems emotionally that might be affecting your sleep, you can probably chalk the not-quite-your-normal temps up to change in sleeping patterns.

I bled for about 3-4 days, then had spotting for another 4-5. The swelling went down last week, sex is much better than it was when we first tried. Overall, I'm feeling back to normal... my cycle is still off though. Yesterday was CD 17 - my typical ovulation day. My OPK's have all been negative - I didn't record Tuesday's OPK because it was dark, but not quite dark enough to satisfy me as a positive, but my temps show no indication of a thermal shift, so I'm assuming that Tuesday's OPK was negative. I thought I was doing okay emotionally until yesterday and today... having my ovulation be off has made me sad again.

I am doing OK mentally. I am still keeping this to myself. Sometimes I get the urge to tell a friend, but I have not. I just don't want the "look". I also want to spare DH the emotions that go along with it. I have the conversation in my brain that I really imagined the whole thing or I was not that far along and it was just a heavy AF. If I did not have a pic of my BFP I could almost talk myself into it. But I really believe that life begins at conception. So now, I guess, I really have to answer the question with one pg but no children. Physically I am back to normal. I am getting the physical symptoms of O now. I never had marked symptoms of O. I had just started charting and was still kind of new to recognize changes. But I do get a few symptoms and I think I am O yesterday/today. I had a little cramping (this was a first) with some increased CF yesterday, plus I was more interested in DH so we are working on TTC this week. I am hoping for something else to be thankful for!

What about you? Any sign of O yet? How are you doing today emotionally? I have been thinking about some herbal supplements to help with O. Have you heard of this?

I know what you mean about keeping it to yourself. I don't really have any friends to talk about it with... I mean, I have friends... but don't feel like I can talk to them about THIS. My best friend doesn't even want children... she doesn't understand where I'm coming from with any of this TTC stuff. I'm trying not to let it put a kink in our friendship, but feel like it is.

My CM is increasing, but that is the only possible sign that I might O that I've had. My temps are still up and down and all of my OPKs are negative. Its been really hard yesterday and today to not let this get me down. Unlike you, I don't have a BFP to show that I did conceive, so a part of me has been thinking that maybe the symptoms I had and the strange bleeding afterward was just an unusual AF, but every wacky temp and negative OPK just confirms a miscarriage. This has been especially hard in the past two days. I'm hoping that traveling to see friends will be a good distraction over Thanksgiving.

I've not heard of what herbal supplements are good to help with Oing. Let me know what you find out!

OH, MM, I'm so sorry to hear this. Lots of prayers for you. Are you coming back to the TTC in 20s group?
