DS and I are in Bath and as the weather warms up are looking for some beach actvities!

Can anyone suggest some nice toddler friendly beaches, ponds or lakes? I don't mind paying as long as it is worth it!

We have been to Popham Beach and did a drive by of Thomas Point in Brunswick..

We would drive maybe up to one hour for a good beach!

Thanks!

Hmmmmm . . now what thread did I post to with directions to Cedar Beach in Harpswell????? Somewhere on this board . . .anyway, there is a very toddle freindly beach on Bailey Island in Harpswell. Small, facing the mainland, few waves, bordered by 2 big rock ledges so toddlers are easily kept in plain sight.

I will try and remember where it was . . .

We also like Reid State Park--generally less crowded than Popham.

If you're in the Scarborough area for some reason, Ferry Beach is great, but has a small parking lot which is often full.

Also, in Phippsburg (I think)--it's out on the way to Popham--is Morse Mountain, which is a preserve that now belongs to Bowdoin College. It's a walk through the woods into a beautiful beach. I haven't gone since I was a kid, and I remember the walk being buggy and long, but maybe those are kid-memories. I bet with a stroller or wagon it wouldn't be bad.

Thanks, KM! I knew it was burried somewhere in here!

We have been to Morse Mountain - the beach at the end is just beautiful! But it really needs to be , given that your memory is quite accurate, KM. It's the buggiest walk ever! I remember taking G there in the backpack carrier and sprinting through the midsection swampy area tto try and save her from the swarming bugs! It's a wonderful winter hike on snowshoes, and the birding is really amazing in the dead of winter, on a quiet snowy morning . . .

. . . back to sunny, warm summer!
