Okay, I don't know if I am allowed to say these things (I'll be happy to edit though) according to the rules of our DDC we can't do a swap here. Here is the post about the Swap forum and its rules http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1117190

I cannot facilitate the swap because I've never swapped on MDC if another mama here who has been in at least 4 swaps wants to host the swap that's fine. Also, one must have been a member for 6 months and have at least 150 posts. I don't know if this rule would leave anyone out and how we feel about that.

We could find an alternative medium/locatino for communicating ie email or groups.

Please vote and let me know...oh and you can only vote once.

Thanks!
Is this like for labor beads?

I voted for MDC swap forum, only because if everyone who wants to be involved qualifies, it would probably be the easiest way of going about it.

If ladies in our group would be excluded because the rules regarding how long they've been a member, or how many posts they have, then I'm all for taking it elsewhere so no one is left out.

I've participated in bead swaps in the past and wouldn't mind again. It was pretty fun. I didn't vote just because it doesn't matter to me whether it is a mdc swap or an alternate method. I've got enough posts and time here.

I think it more depends on whether those mamas who don't have enough time and/or posts would like to participate.

I voted another way simply because it seems like we do not have a host to handle it for us here.

I say yes. But, in another way if possible. We did this in my last DDC with a Yahoo Group, it worked fine if anyone is interested in coordinating this way!

We called it a birth bead swap .

I didn't use mine for labor/birth beads, but after DD was born I made a necklace for her to play with/use for nursing with them and a bunch of wooden beads I had on hand. She still loves it.

But...the best part, was we all included notes with good wishes for the other moms with our beads. About 6 months after she was born I went through the packet and re-read all the little notes and it made me really happy. I put all of them in one little bag together in the baby box I'm saving for DD.

I'd really love to do a bead swap. I don't care which way we do it, really.

Do we have a birth bead swap going? or is this going to be our overall bead swap??

That's exactly how my last ddc did it. It was wonderful. I finished the necklace the day I got them, was so excited.

Okay, well I think that is enough initial interest that I'll go ahead and set us up at yahoo groups over this weekend. I'll post the info once it is done.

Looking forward to the fun!
