I've been reading about introducing solids and lots of things talk about
a good protien source... milk, cheese...
What about beans? I've been having a hard time finding anything about them...
I would think they'd be a great food to introduce maybe around 9 months??
(our DD is 7 months now and we are SLOWLY introducing solids... )

Anyone give thier DC beans? What age? Did you have any problems? Is there anything I should know? Or info I should read?

Thanks a bunch!!!

My dd just turned 8 mo. and just today she was munching out on my black beans. She has had beans a few times before and there hasn't ever been any problems. The only thing wild thing is that the beans come out whole. I can see how many beans she has eaten by looking in her diaper, haha. But she loves them and was getting mad when I didn't feed them to her fast enough. But my dd LOVES food and always wants to eat. My older dd wasn't into food and she didn't really eat anything, but breastmilk until she was 12 mo.

J loves black beans. He has been eating them since about 7 months. He really gums them up well so I only notice the skins on the other end.

Oh my gosh, my first DD *LOVES* to eat black beans, straight up. She has ever since she was 8 months old! I'd have to say it's still one of her favorite snacks

My DS will ONLY eat black beans.

Yes, he currently has a breastmilk and black bean diet with some organic O's cereal thrown in. I refuses to eat anything else. I have to wrap other foods in black beans to get him to try it -- sweet potato and such hidden in beans :LOL
At least it is healthy!

Beans are a staple in this house. When I make a pot of them, I just pull some out before I add any seasoning to the pot, mash 'em up with some breastmilk, and he loves them. I was afraid they would make him super gassy but they haven't. We started doing this around 6 1/2 months.

Beans are one of K's first foods. I'll pull them out of my chili and squish them in my fingers for him, or mash them with the back of the spoon (he only has 2 teeth) He loves them!

ds has been eating beans since he was about 6 1/2 months also. Small beans, like black beans, I would just mush between my fingers before I gave them to him. Larger beans, like kidney beans, I'd break in half.

He loves hummus and whole garbonzo beans. He has some trouble with picking up lentils, but he likes to eat them.

We usually give them to him at room temperature.
