I'm scouring the net looking for something pretty to teach. Not calligraphy, not necessarily italics but something functional and usable that is appealing to the eye. I have a 10 yr. old and 5 yr. old. We are currently using HWT. While it is neat and the program has worked fairly well for my leftie, I'm not sure I like the look of the script.

Here's what I've found

That has quite a few samples. Isn't that a neat program btw?? They Gettay Dubay is appealing but there's not much difference in the print and cursive.

There's also these:

Very neat and very inexpensive. Anyone familiar?

This is a program that utilizes Getty Dubay. We're Christian homeschoolers so I like the idea of combining the copywork and character building.

I'd love others input and experience.

Here's another comparison http://www.cep.pdx.edu/samples/compare.pdf
I'm also wondering how efficient some of these italic styles can be since they are so close to printing - the letters aren't always connected.

I would think that the lessons have less to do with how your child's writing will ultimately look than it has to do with your child. Take a classroom, for example. All the kids learn the same style of writing, but no two look the same. My handwriting looks a lot like my mothers, but we were not taught the same style. She learned the Palmer method (I think that's how it's spelled) and I learned a generic cursive.
