I have a friend who is trying to get information about the benefits of BFing after 6 months of age. can anyone provide some recommendations I can pass along to her?

I would buy her a copy of "Womanly Art of Breastfeeding". This book was very informative. I read it after I had my 2nd dd and really wish I had read it earlier, even though I was committed to extended nursing already.

My logic for it is that babies aren't supposed to have cow's milk until after the first year and I don't want to give my babe formula...ever <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment">

well, saves you from having to get up in the middle of the night to make bottles (multiple times) i did that with the first...and i'm SOOOOOOOOOOO happy that Gabey is still nursing at 6 1/2 months. plus, have her taste formula, and see if she really wnats to give that cr** to her babe...i didn't want to with the first, but, as the saying goes, manure happens, and we ended up formula feeding.
