My friends were very generous and bought me a Beco butterfly carrier, which DD2 seems to love so far. She's 2 weeks old. I need to be able to put her into the carrier as we're getting out of the car. Is this possible? There isn't much space in the car because of both kids' carseats being in the back seat.

Do you mean putting her on in the car itself, or stepping out of the car and doing it outside? Either way it's possible, although weather permitting it would be easier to do it standing up outside the car as the front seat may be a tight fit.

But in any event, you can:

buckle the infant insert but leave the main safety harness unbuckled

loosen the shoulder straps and hip belt strap

pre-buckle the chest clip and position it where you want it to end up

slip the carrier on overhead like you're putting a shirt on

slide her into the infant insert while holding onto the top edge of the carrier and bouncing her down in (make sure she's securely in there)

holding on to her with one hand and boosting her weight, with the other hand grab the first safety harness buckle and clip it in up by your shoulder, then reverse and do on the other side

do hip belt, and make sure her feet are correctly situated

adjust and go!

HTH!
