I am about to order a Beco, but I am not sure if I should go for the Butterfly or Butterfly II. Has anyone tried both? Any other Beco advice is welcome.

I'd say get the butterfly II just because the hood is so much better! That said, if money is an issue that really is the only difference... and if you have a baby who doesn't sleep while being worn than the hood doesn't really matter.

I have the regular butterfly and love it, my lil one is older though and doesn't really nap.

I have a butterfly II.

I think the differences are:
infant insert is removable (and you can adjust the height according to the size of your baby - don't know if you can do that with the original butterfly? probably...)
the hood is a different shape apparently...

I think the differences are minimal. Actually, when I ordered I wasn't sure if I was ordering an original butterfly or a II (local webshop that wasn't very clear on that), but I didn't care too much.

FWIW, I love my beco and so does dd, she loves being upright instead of in a cradle type position. (I received it when she was 4 weeks old, she's 7 weeks now).

I do use the hood, but for now, the baby is completely "inside" the carrier so her head doesn't need to be supported by the hood, however I use it to shield her from wind or sun or rain (it's not waterproof but it does the job). And when she gets bigger it will probably come in handy, seeing how much she loves sleeping while being carried!

Thanks! I went ahead and ordered the II, because my baby does love to sleep in her sling. I have been using a kozy, but I hate that the straps always drag when I am putting it on or taking it off.

I had the original Beco and exchanged it for the 2, and I love that the infant insert is removable in the 2. Before I would have to shimmy the fabric of the infant insert out of the way when positioning DS... now I don't have that problem at all. I am bummed about the limited prints in Canada though... I really loved the Allison but got the Carnival in the Beco 2

which print did you get? I hope you love it. I didn't realize that the infant insert came out, I might sell my Butterfly for a II now (mostly though cause I hate the hood)
