Has anyone tried this? I am considering getting a belly bandit but they're about $50.

I actually just bought a Belly Bandit from Best Baby Organics I have never tried it before previously but a friend of mine had one and swears by it so I figured it was worth a try. It's my last baby<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> so I figured wth might as well give it a try I will take all the help I can get

I haven't had any other kids myself so I've never tried but hear such good things about binding. I found some by the sports brand Everlast on clearance for $5 each at Home Sense(but I know I've seen those at Sears for a very good price) and decided to buy those. They aren't natural materials which is the only downfall I can see, so far. I bought one men's and one woman's. The men's has velcro close and the women's zips, and they both seem like they will fit a decent range of sizes. I believe I purchased both in either O/S or XL but I was surprised that they appear that they will fit (I am not small in the first place, especially not when 35 weeks prego when I bought them)

I've been reading about it too. Never tried it before, but it sounded promising. I thought about the belly bandit, but I ended up getting a Medela brand one that was a lot cheaper. I figure if it's really uncomfortable but seems to be helping, I can spring for the better one!

I haven't heard of the Medela one or the Everlast one. Is the verlast one weight lifting support? I could see where that would work too. I will go check those out. Thanks!

DDCC I am going to use a stomach wrap I have here for a hernia.. its the same thing, probably stronger though.

I tried it with the last and ditched it after an hour. I hate being confined and wont even wear panels around my belly with maternity clothes because i don't like the feeling at all. But i've never had an issue with my tone returning after pregnancy. By 6 weeks post partum my stomach is pretty much back to normal. I do a lot of sitting on a yoga/birth ball and bouncing my babes . . . i think it really strengthens my core.<br><br>
So yeah, im probably of the minority but i am not a fan at all of the binders.

I ordered an ITA-Med 4 panel breathable elastic abdominal binder for women from Amazon. It should be here in a couple of days. I couldn't breath out after DD was born! My total lack of abdominal tone meant i just couldn't support my diaphragm enough to get the air out!<br><br>
I looked into the normal post-baby wraps but i am tall (5'11") and have a long body, and i have one tall mama friend who bought one and it kept rolling up because it didn't quite come down far enough.<br><br>
Sooooo....i went to a cheap shop and bough control pants which come up to the ribs and a control vest which comes down to the hips and which i have modified by lengthening the straps and cutting out the bit where my breasts would have been (because nursing and control underwear DON'T mix!). Hopefully that'll give me enough support for a few days.

Just wanted to update on this. The day we left the hospital I put on the belly binder and love it. It feels so good when it is on.

It is. It's very comfortable. Takes a bit of practice to get it wrapped around and pulled tight enough but once it's on it's very comfy. It says not to wear it on your skin but it doesn't bother me.

I tried one after my last pregnancy but I guess my super short torso is what made it uncomfortable for me. I couldn't just sit down (even fully upright) without it digging into my bra/breasts. And pumping with it on? A joke. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> It wasn't too long either, because anything shorter wouldn't have worked (held me in).

I think mine was around the same size. I'm 5'8" and even the doula that did my belly cast remarked at how short my torso was (I'm ALL legs). I may see if the hospital will give me one this time (well, bill my insurance) and hope it's better somehow.
