I'm 20 weeks with my first and while my weight is good, I'm CLEARLY pregnant. I'm wondering when most belly buttons pop out. I'm an innie, but if I take a big breath and relax my tummy it looks like it's ready to pop out! And at times it's sensitive and kind of sore. I'm wondering if it's ready to go or if it takes a while. I'm most comfortable in low-rise maternity bottoms and knit shirts, so it'll show when it does!

The books tell you all about your nipples darkening, and the line on your tummy, etc. but nothing seems to address the belly button changes!

maybe it depends on your abdominal muscles? Maybe if they never separate, it doesn't pooch out. Mine did last pregnancy, and it does it now when I eat a lot.

Mine never popped out with DS and I don't suspect that it will this time either. I have noticed though, (and this is just my opinion) that women that carry the baby in front like a basketball look like they have the belly button popping out while women that tend to carry more of a watermelon oblong shape (like me) don't have the belly button popping out. But of course, every one is different.

It certainly is appearing that way with the similarities we've had.

Mine never popped out with either of my girls. I'm hoping it'll be the same way this time.

Mine never did last time, which I was happy about. It got kinda stretched along the top. This time, so far, no pop at 19 weeks, but it's quite flat, so not sure it will stay in. Hope so!

First time mine didn't pop until around 6 or 7 months, this time it popped REAL quick, I think that was how I knew I was pregnant, the belly button for some unexplained reason was an outie!!! "Oh god I must be pregnant"

That makes sense I don't get the basket ball belly. I keep my babies tucked inside pretty well - more watermelon looking. No belly button popping or flattening. I also have a deep belly button.

Mine is starting to get more and more shallow- I can finally see the lap scar I have from November and I can monitor it from how much scar I can see.

Thanks for the replies - I love my belly button so I hope it gets back to normal after the pregnancy... I definitely have a basketball shape! I've been all out front for the whole pregnancy. My bb is deep too and angled up at the bottom. It hurt a bit early on (maybe 12 weeks) and then lost some of the angle it had before. Now it's just sore and is also wider. We'll see I guess!

It will go back down, but in my case it was never the same after. It was so perfect before - the creases in it used to be shaped like a star if you were to trace it, but afterwards, all crooked not as in as before either. But at least I got a wonderful daughter out of it.
