I did one last time, and it was really very easy. I bought Rigid-Wrap Plaster Cloth from an art store. You can buy it from any art supplier. Here's a link

I bought three rolls, as I recall, and we used them all. After it was dry, I used plaster of paris on top to harden it up even more. DH did the casting for me. He covered the shoulders, chest, and belly. I do reccommend including the shoulders because it gives you something to hang it from. I used a wide piece of ribbon.

Have fun! I can't wait to do one this summer.

Cool, dh thought it would be a nice family bonding experience. Thanks for the link! I really wanted to do this my last pregnancy, while on bedrest with my twins and a family member said she'd get for me and do it. So I was dissappointed she never did. Now I've got another chance!

My belly cast hangs as an art piece in our play room. DS loves to look at it. I tell him that's what my body looked like when I was pregnant with him. It's very puzzling to a two year old, but a tactile piece of art none the less.

that is exactly how i feel about it too! so many of my friends have them but i just don't see me putting it on the wall for a long period of time.... i have joked about doing it in clay and then turning it into a "chips with 2 types of dip" bowl....

Funny I actually watched one of those baby shows and the women finished the plaster inside so she could use it for something like that.
