Thanks!

I do think that it is very complex and depends on where you live. If you did a lot of highway driving the Jetta could be getting 45+ mpg, and the Prius could have dropped below that so it might be even better than that article would indicate. I do a lot of "rural" driving, not high speeds but also not too much traffic. I get about 43mpg in my Jetta wagon. I have a friend w/ prius in same area and he does get around 50.

However, if we lived in the city my Jetta would probably only be getting 35mpg and the Prius doing very well, so it would be a closer call in that situation. (That is of course not including the other issues such as styling, safety, price, etc.)

Not sure if you've heard anything about it but I am excited at the prospect of Algea being used for biosiesel. Apparently it had more oil than soy. It is taking over the oceans and causing all kinds of problems, would be good to have a market for that so it would get removed. Although not sure those kinds can be used as they are full of toxins. But something to keep an eye on.

That is very intersting! I'm still hoping for a plug-in hybrid by the time I decide to replace my car. I'm also hoping that I'll have my solar panels up by that time (need to move first
) and will be able to recharge via the sun. We'll see what happens in the next 5 years! It's exciting to see all the positive changes picking up speed!
