Rather than hijack natashacat's post re aloe vera (good to know btw) I wanted to start a new one. I know that any zinc creams are a no no.

What about petroleum based products like aquaphor?? Don't want to gunk up my new dipes.....and would prefer to know if what I have on hand will work (ie rather than ordering something...)

Thanks

I use creams on ds with zinc oxide and don't have problems. I don't use them often but as needed. Tonight ds has a good coat of Aquaphor on him bum because he was looking a little red. The only thing that you must stay away from are creams containing cod oil like original desitin and a&d ointment. The fish smell will permeate your dipes and very difficult to get out.

arbonne makes a white cream one that is awesome. I cant buy it again, lol, but its so great on rashes, and I even used it the first night I got my fuzbaby watermelon set with confidence! and it left no discoloration or smell at all! (and I put alot on because it was overnight)

edited to add that I didnt really answer your question, sorry

I've been using Badger Baby Balm with good results. It's not marketed (on the tin) as a diaper barrier cream, but I like it for this. The ingredients list is: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Beeswax, Calendula Extract & Essential Oil of Chammomile. It's great all around stuff. I had originally bought it for my older dd's red, raw cheeks (face!) in the wintertime, as it didn't sting her skin (we tried everything!).

Me too. I've only used it once and it worked great and my diaper was fine too.

it is completely natural and has no petroleum. I am presently using some on Alek's chicken pox bum and it is very soothing and keeps his pox clear of urine and stools. Works great, the pox even are healing faster there then anywhere else on his body.

When DD started showing signs of a rash, I grabbed some stuff that I had gotten at my shower. I had no idea about cod liver oil and couldn't figure out why DD smelled so bad,
especially after she peed.

After reading the ingredients I realized why she stunk. :LOL

My husband nicknamed her "Fishbutt" that day.
