I know I SHOULD eat a well-balanced diet every day. But let's say hypothetically some mamas don't. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> What is the best one out there for the specific needs of a lactating woman? FWIW, I sometimes have nausea in the morning if I take pills on an empty stomach. So gentle on the tummy would be a plus.

Nobody's perfect, and I swear by vites to help pick up my slack. I really like Rainbow Light's Prenatal One (my midwife turned me on to it). It's whole food based and is easy on the tummy. If you shop Vitamin Shoppe online, I've found the best price there. I also add Nordic Naturals DHA (doesn't have to be the prenatal one; the other one has a strawberry taste).

My NT recommended continuing with the prenatal vitamins while lactating.

i use the target generic--supposed to be equivalent to stuarts prenatal. great price too-- 6.99 for 200 tablets. i've been using these since before we conceived our first son, so at least 3 years i've been taking them for.

I also take my pre-natals that I took while I was pregnant.
