We switched to cd back in the spring, but soon had to start using disposables at night because no matter what diaper I put on my toddler, he woke up with terrible diaper rash in the morning. We've tried multiple prefolds with fleece liner, fleece pocket diapers, etc., but nothing seems to keep the wetness away from his skin enough to prevent the irritation. I hate hate hate having to buy disposables every six weeks or so, and would willingly pay good money for a diaper that would get us through the night with no rash. Suggestions from mamas who've been there?

no suggestions on the dipes ... I would've said try some fuzzibunz but you said you'd already tried a fleece pocket so I can't help you there. My mother recommended to me when my dd was small to use a liberal amount of barrier cream on her bottom overnight to keep moisture away from her skin ...it seems to work.

I hope someone has better information for you!

I know my friend uses a barrier cream at night (along with a fleece topped doubler and prefold). How about a wool soaker/liner underneat the fleece doubler? The wool "sucks" the moisture away.....maybe that would help?

Are you using a good cream at night, like Burt's Bees? I also agree that it could be a fleece sensitivity and that regardless, a wool liner could be helpful. My DS is sensitive at night too, and I've found that he must have breathable fabrics (wool or fleece) or he wakes up rashy.

Holden has very sensitive skin. I put a barrier cream on him at each night-time changing (he's only 2 1/2 weeks old, so we still go through 3-4 diapers a night.) I made it out of beeswax, comfrey leaves, and tea tree oil. Not only does it work to prevent rashes but if he's irritated at all it soothes him. I also love Burt's Bees products.

Thanks for all the responses! We use fleece liners in all his diapers throughout the day and he doesn't get diaper rash. I use Desitin creamy formula; we tried Burt's Bees but it irritated his skin. I had also tried using a bit of tea tree oil in our spray bottle at one time but it gave him a rash, too. He seems to be sensitive to a lot of things.
