Is it frowned apon to take doula training on line courses?

If its not is there a reputable place you would recommend?

cappa has a distance learning course. cappa.net. I used it until I decided not to certify. After this baby is born, I'll be starting a cert. agency myself for people like me that don't want to cert.

Ummm...if they don't want to cert, why would they go to your cert agency?

I highly recommend Childbirth International (CBI). I'm almost done with their online doula and childbirth educator certification. Fantastic, very in-depth.

I did a lot of research on all the different places to get certified. I went with Childbirth International's Doula and Childbirth Educator course and I don't regret it. I am almost finished with the reading and tests. Now all that's left is to attend my training births. It's all distance education except for the 2 births you attend for the Doula part. For the childbirth educator part you also have to go to a 12 hr childbirth education class of your choice. I've been able to do all the work when my kids go to bed and I'm learning a lot through CBI.

A lot of people choose not to cert because of all the red tape. I hope to come up with a way to ensure the doulas are educated, and cut out the bs.
