My dh is a big guy and gets easily overheated. Can anyone reccomend a sling for him? He hasn't been keen on even trying my Maya Wrap. He is certain he will get to hot with it. Would a traditional front pack be better for him? I'm new to slinging so I have only tried the Maya wrap.

Thanks for any suggestions

I chose the Maya because it ISN't too hot. And I have an XL, anyone can wear it, though if you're too short it might drag, lol.

Maybe an ABC?

I say go with natural fabrics without padding. Maya is actually a good sling for this because its natural and breathes. I have a Maya and it does pretty good in this area. Maybe he could even try a solarviel or mesh sling? I tend to lean towards anything 100% cotton but the Mesh would definately breathe well!
Goodluck!

My husband is 6'4" and 230ish. He was also reluctant to use the Maya Wrap. I finally sat down and asked him why. He saw it as strictly a nursing sling. LOL, He loves it now. He also bought a Baby Bjorn, but the baby does not feel as close. BTW, we live in Texas and he has yet to get overheated slinging the baby. The Mayan fabric is so breathable. He can wear the large with room.

I think my man might have felt self-conscious in most slings. However, he proudly totes little Z in his custom-made seahawks sling. Big sports fan. We bought the cotton fabric and had it made at a store that sells them, total, $25. If I sewed it would have been $7 for the seahawk printed fabric. Patterns are all over the net...I bet some wham who makes them would do it for you. Note that back pack styles where the weight of the baby rests soley on base of spine are not great for baby...especially a baby who doesn't sit yet and doesn't yet have the 3 curves in the spine. I read this could cause a life time of back problems in some.

Hubby tried one of those bjorn-looking infantino carriers once he saw how comfy I was carrying Ian in a Mom n Me pouch. Then he realized it wasn't as comfy as mine so he asked me to order him one.

I contacted Kristen from Hotslings to see if she could make him one in his size (he's 6'4" and 280lbs). She was a joy to work with and the pouch fit like a glove.

Thanks for all the great replys everyone! I talked to dh about it and he wants to try my Maya wrap
We'll see how it works and I may have to get him an XL. He would probably like a solid color anyway
