I'm pretty new to both EC and babywearing. I am in the market for a new sling-- I have a New native Pouch that isn't very versatile and Mai Tei that I love but isn't so great for EC-- takes too long to untie and get DD out quickly. What is your favorite sling/babycarrier that's easy to get babe in and out of, and that easy to wash also? DD is four months, and I'd like something that we can use now and as she continues to grow.

I have a Maya Wrap Sling that is very easy to get dd in and out of (3 mo). I only use it for short trips to the store or out to get the mail, though. I use a wrap for longer walks or a mei tai for other things, but dd usually gives me enough time for me to get her out of whatever I am wearing. I think as you get used to your baby's signals, you won't need to rush to the potty right away, they give you enough warning. It is definitely easier to tell when dd has to go because I'm carrying her next to my body. Good luck finding something that will work for you!

A wrap. Lately I'm really into wearing mine in the hip cross carry. It seems easy to lift dd out to potty and then get her back into a comfortable position without re-tying. They are great long-term, too. I wore my older dd in back wrap cross carry for long walks until she was 3. Dh could probably still comfortably do this, except that younger dd is always in the wrap and older dd likes to run now. :LOL Ours is an Ellaroo. It washes easily but should not go in the dryer.

I also like a wrap. There are so many ways to tie it. Some are easy in and out without untying. The back carries are usually slower to get on and off, but I've never had a puddle on my back. I can't suggest a brand though, since my wraps are home-made.

I love my wrap because of it's veratility. I find that once you get it it's pretty easy. For young EC babies, the front wrap carriers are great- you can pop baby in and out. Then you can grow to the hip carry once they have good control.

I find that now it's as easy as my pouch or ring sling. If you don't want the learning curve of the wrap then the ring slings like the Maya wrap are super easy to use as well.

I have found that the Baby Bundler (I'm guessing it'd be considered a wrap) works great, and when 4 month old DS is in it facing forward I can actually just squat and pee him by pulling the fabric away from under his bottom/crotch. Then when he's finished I can just tuck it back under him. My speculation is that as they get older any sling will be easy because my older son got really good at adjusting/positioning themselves back into a sling, and they don't go as often, right? (At least that's what seems to be happening in my EC journey right now!)

I hope this isn't spam, but I make these carriers
. I agree that a wrap is handy because you can pop baby in and out fairly quickly, esp in the front carries. I designed the mini-wraps for super easy poppability. Tie it once and take it on and off, take baby in and out without any adjustments. I think a pouch would be really good too. Washability is also a very important. I've also heard that watersling s are good for ec, because of the wetness factor.
