(Yes, I took the crockpot, if you read my other thread, lol)

Anyway, I don't know if there is another thread for this and I just didn;t type the right thing into the search. If there is please jus point me in the right direction. If not then I would love to hear your fave/best crockpot recipes for a little inspriation.

Today I made this grassfed pork and sauerkraut stew outta my Hungarian cookbook. It has tomato sauce, caraway, dill, and onion and then the pork and sauerkraut and I added a beer and some water.

It smells outta this world!

I make my chicken stock in the crock. and sometimes chicken soup.

I also like to take any form of chicken I may want to use to make shreded chicken out of. for BBQ or taco. it makes it so tender! perfect for sandwiches.

I cook ground beef/turkey in the cast iron with seaoning and then add it all to the crock to continue simmering with some tomatoes. it turns out SO good after a couple of hours.

alternative uses: not exactly a recipe, but if you need to keep mashed potatoes warm for company you can make them ahead of time and store them in the crock and they stay PERFECT!

the pork and saurkraut sound wonderful!

Oh, thanks, HennyPenny, the stew really was wonderful with sour cream on top, MMmm.

Ok, so I think that chicken info is great, esp. the broth part because I was wondering if I could make my broth in the crockpot, so that is good news.

I have the feeling after using the crockpot that pretty much anything I throw in there will come out pretty darn good!

I always do stock in my crockpot. Right now I've got a 13 bean soup going, which usually turns out quite good. Another EASY favorite is to throw in a chuck roast and a bottle of BBQ sauce

I'm not one to stick to a recipe most of the time, but I can't say enough good things about the lamb stew recipe in NT. That's about the only one that I pull out the book for and follow to the letter! I use lamb shoulder and neck slices in it (lots of good bones!) and it's perfect. In fact we're having that for DS's first birthday dinner because it's one of his favorites, too.
