I need suggestions for a good all-purpose water sling. It will mostly be used in sprinklers, occasionally in a pool, probably in the shower, and on vacation this summer at the beach in San Diego. I usually wear my baby in a Zolo or Ergo. So what should I get for water use? TIA!

Most water slings are solarveil or solarweave. Solarveil is a sort of UV protective mesh, while solarweave is more like the material for men's swim suits.

If you love your Zolo, they make a solarveil water sling, so that might be a good option for you. If you want to change things up, you could look at a solarveil mei tai (like Sachi) or a pouch (there are several different ones out there).

Although I love mei tais in general, I didn't like the solarveil mei tai I bought because the straps turned into little ropes and were very uncomfortable for me. I much preferred my solarveil pouch. I've used a Hotslings pool pouch and I've also used a TaylorMade mesh water sling that wasn't solarveil but worked well and was very soft and comfy. (If I had to buy it over again I'd do solarveil for the sun protection factor, though.) A sling is a good choice if more than one person is going to wear it.

Keep in mind that even with the solarveil you need to put sunblock on all over your child, because the sling/pouch isn't going to cover all of them all of the time.
