nak... my dd is now going diaperless every night and generally she's dry all night and she just pees in the morning. but i **** have her sleeping on a waterproof mat (a plastic one), with a towel over that and a recieving blanket on that, THEN a premium prefold just under her butt. this is getting a bit ridiculous b/c there are so many layers, and then now she gets REALLY hot during the night b/c of sleeping on plastic.
:

i'm looking for the best way to have something protecting our bed for that 1 night every couple of days that she leaks a bit. i'd like to have a big wool blanket that's felted, but i can't find any in any of the thrift stores around me, and i can't afford the ones at the ec store (plus the one is sold out). the mattress covers that are PUL on the bottom, then flannel, then fleece sound like they might be decent too, but i can't find any big ones. she moves around quite a bit already during the night, and i'm assuming that will get worse (she's only 3 months in a couple of days). are either of these options going to help with her getting too hot and sweaty overnight?

any suggestions? does anyone want to scope out a nice thrift store blanket for me? i'd pay you for the blanket and the shipping!!!
: does anyone know (or is) a WAHM or someone who might be willing to make this for me?? i'm hoping for one that's like 4' by 4' or maybe larger, or whatever size other people have found to work well.

TIA!!!

I am on another forum called diaperswappers.com and thereis a work at home mom who is making these things called nakey blankeys that are what you are talking about. Right now she is offering the tester ones. She is using all types of different absorbant materials and PUL on the bottom with lots of cool prints. She says in the post I'm linking that the tester period is closed- but I'm sure once she starts getting feedback on ow much everyone likes these things she will be selling more and more so I don't think it would hurt to pm her and ask if you could get one she makes them as small as 20x20 and as large as crib size.

my 4 month old is the same way at night- mostly always dry but occasionally we'll have a nighttime miss so i can't wait to get my cute nakey blankey.

ooo awesome. I actually thought to post at diaperswappers first, but didn't know if that would be appropriate there or not. also, i looked through the WAHM wares forum, and just didn't find anything.... so thanks for the direction!!!! i'd still like wool, but we'll have to just wait for that i guess!!!

The thrift store wool blankets are really great, both for their price and their function. You might want to keep looking. I had to check back a few times before I found one, but it was worth it.
Also, check your local Army Navy supply store for wool blankets. They will be more expensive, but you might be able to get two or three piddle pads out of one. Or Ebay? I just searched and found tons of wool blankets at pretty good prices.
Good luck!
