We have two newspapers from the day after the election announcing Obama's win. What is the best way to preserve them?

Keep them clean and dust-free in a dark place in a regular room (not attic or basement or garage).
I would scan them, as well.

It wouldn't hurt.
The truth is all paper is going to deteriorate at some point. The goal, then, is to prolong it for as long as possible. Sunlight and moisture are your two biggest threats.
