I'd like to find an itty-bitty helmet for DD, who is 14.5 months and has a giant head for her age ("A head like a planet!"<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> ), but is still too little for a youth helmet. Any suggestions as to where I can look for something to fit her?

Giro is a very popular brand and makes an infant size. It is adjustable for head sizes of 18.75" to 20.5". You can find Giro at most sporting good/outdoors stores.

walmart sells them too, and they come with matching knee and elbow pads.

We bought one at REI. The salespeople were good at helping us fit it as well.

We found bike helmets that fit my 17 month old with a tiny head at Target, Walmart and Toy R Us. After finding ones that fit with some adjusting there we skipped the bike shop. There were several different age groups at all the stores we just had to dig through the helmets as they were not sized well at Walmart or Toys R Us. However Target had them pretty well sized.

A local bike shop will make sure the helmet is fitted property. Bell and Giro both sell infant helmets but both fit a little different and should be checked to be sure it is safe.
