Is anyone interested in doing one of these? I would LOVE to take part in one! I know it's early but I would still really like to start thinking about it :p

If you've never heard of it before, what you do is everyone that wants to participate signs up by a certain date and then the numbers are tallied. You make or buy enough beads for the entire group and send them to one person in charge of stringing them together into a necklace or a bracelet...that person then sends a necklace or bracelet to each person participating.

I think it's a lovely idea! And a real, tangible way of remembering that there is support even if you don't feel like it, and even though we can't be together at least we know that empowered women from all over the world are supporting us through what sometimes feels like the valley of the shadow of death...

Honestly, I personally don't want to organize or be in charge of sending out the finished products because I am already immensely busy with school and church and am HORRIBLE at finishing projects like this, so I'd like to pass along that responsibility to someone...responsible... Any takers?

I'd definitely like to get involved - I have a lack of positive female energy in my life and would love to have an "offline" tangible sensation of support!

There's a cool bead shop near me.

So I also saw something where instead of the one person being responsible for stringing all the necklaces (a lot of work) you could have a bead keeper who just gets all the beads then sends out packets of beads so everyone can make their own individual necklaces.

That seems like a more fair distribution of work :)

Let's see how many people are into it... I love this idea.

Hello everyone!

We cannot host bead swaps in DDC's. You can, however, either host them in the Trading Post or off-site (like Yahoo). All correspondence regarding bead swap details must take place via the Trading Post if you intend to host it there or through PM.

You may decide on a member to host now, but once you do that the person needs to PM me and we can establish one thread to be stickied and locked with information regarding who to PM that would look something like this:

"If you're interested in participating in the DDC birth bead swap, please PM me for information. We cannot host or discuss any details regarding swaps in the DDC's."

If you choose to host in the Trading Post you may post a forwarding link in the locked thread to the swap.

If anyone has questions please PM me, thanks ya'll

I agree - there's a nice bead shop near me too (dangerous! I used to make small bags out of beads and the urge still lingers), and it would be fun to head in there with a specific project in mind like this!

I also really really suck at responsibility though... I can be trusted to send the beads out to the main distributor, but that's it.

I'd also like to suggest that we each include a little money with the beads to cover shipping cost for the main distributor... I don't want to see one person get stuck with $30 in shipping charges!

edit: oops, must have been typing this up as the mod was posting...
