I start Bradley class tomorrow and I am so excited because it will really feel real and I will have a whole evening of DH focusing on me and Baby!
I have to take a class on Birthcare's orders, but I would have wanted to anyway I think.

Is anyone else taking a class? I can't remember if we have discussed this before.

A whole evening of focusing on the baby with dh sounds great! Hope the class is fun and educational for you!

We're not taking a class. I was browsing through the hospital's class listings, looking for a sibling class or tour or something for the kids and asked dh if he wanted to take a class. His answer was "why? So you can correct the instructors?" To be fair, they don't offer Bradley or anything cool like that, it's the standard hospital junk.

Please share with us how you like it and what you learn. I'm excited for you. I got a lot out of reading the Bradley book.

I'm doing Bradley too! We just finished week 4. Its been REALLY good for us. DH has been so busy with work that he has been very disconnected to this pregnancy, to the point that we had a huge serious of fights over him "having to go" to the birth class. But going has really helped him to take time away from everything else and focus on the baby, he is so much more connected to the pregnancy now. Plus the Bradley philosophy has really started resonating with him, and now he is so adorably pro-natural childbirth, which is truly amazing. We had a very messy loss with our first and then had to have a c-section with our second, so DH has been terrified of labor and delivery. Bradley has really helped him to embrace that birth is a natural process and not something to be afraid of. Knowing that he has a role in the birth has been very important too--before he thought of labor as something that I would have to do alone--now he understands that he has a really important role too.
I hope you enjoy your classes!

ours starts the sunday after next (9 september). it's a birthing from within class and as far as i know it's very small and only homebirth couples. i'm very excited about it, even though andy is already being all awkward about the idea of birth art.

Enjoy your class!!!

We aren't taking a class this time. We took a 10-week Hypnobirthing course with DD that detailed a lot for us and I've stayed pretty educated via books and the internet since. I feel extremely prepared this time around. Though it would be nice to have a night that DH & I dedicate solely to THIS baby. It seems our lives revolve around DD right now and sometimes it is hard to focus or realize that there is another family member soon to arrive!

We took a childbirth class last time around (standard breathing and comfort measure stuff, what to expect from labor, different options, some newborn care), and this time we're taking an all-day class designed for VBACs. It's based on Birthing From Within, so I'm interested to see how different it might be from our previous class. We're taking the class on Sept. 22.

Birthing from Within looks like a lot of fun. I bought the workbook, so DH and I can go over the basic philosophies etc. DH likes more medical and facts based stuff, so he should like Bradley.

We started Hypnobabies last night. My husband's pretty skeptical, but he's been supportive (ie, he doesn't think hypnosis would work for him, but he thinks it will for me). I think we'll enjoy it, and even though he's skeptical, he said he welcomes the opportunity to sit on someone's couch with his eyes closed, breathing deeply. Not that it relaxes him or anything (he denied being relaxed in last night's session--what a liar!)

We start ours next week. It's a mixture of styles, from what I can tell, and will have some homebirthers and some hospital birthers, which should be interesting. We're both pretty excited about it, and the instructor comes highly recommended. I agree that it's going to make this all more real. And by the time it's over - I think it's 8 classes over 9 weeks - we'll be just about there! :

Bradley class was fun. I like that DH has to help me relax everyday lol. It's just 2 other couples. One couple is birthing at a hospital and sounded pretty freaked out when the instructor was going over hospital stats. The other couple is birthing at Birthcare too and will also have a homebirth if they can find a house by then.

We started Bradley last night! We're doing privately cuz our schedules our so weird. I liked it... my favorite part was her demonstration of what happens during the birth... she had a baby doll that she put in two mesh bags, and covered it with a knit "uterus", then demonstrated how the uterus contracts and pulls up over the baby's head, etc. I asked DH on the way home if he thought my uterus was made of yarn like that. I like our teacher, and she was impressed that we'd done so much of the recommended reading and are so educated and prepared already. Thanks MDC!

The class got DH really into my diet and exercise. Right now, he's in the other room planning a perfect Bradley menu for me lol It's a whole lot more food than I normally eat! I'm thinking it will be a really good breastfeeding diet too.
