I know this might be a little early...but we went to the midwives yesterday who sent me to a doctor for an infection whom asked me about it..and I hadnt really thought about it yet...I know I dont want to be using any kinda pill or anything and we used the natural cycle type stuff all the other times, but the doc brought up IUD...anyone know anything about it good or bad?

I've had several friends who used IUDs, hormonal or non-hormonal, after they had their babies. They like them.

That being said, I got pregnant with twins while using the non-hormonal IUD. It was only two years old, and I had just had it checked by my OB a month before I got pregnant. Soooo....IUDs aren't so trustworthy in my case.

Is your cycle very regular? If you can usually tell when you're ovulating, especially if you've charted (using Natural Family Planning) in the past, then I would suggest getting the IUD and using condoms during your fertile week.

As for dh and I, we plan on charting (NFP) and using condoms. My mother had early onset breast cancer, so I feel hormonal birth control would be unsafe for me.
NFP here too. I used bcp's for several years and never felt good about them. I really enjoy charting.
I've used NFP for our whole marriage, also. It's a little funkier postpartum, but not impossible.
Charting (NFP) and condoms here. I'm a little worried about temping with an erratic sleep schedule, though. Have you guys done it before?

Yep, we charted after our first. If you're cosleeping and not actually getting out of bed, your temps shouldn't be affected too much. It was the non-stop mucus for months that threw me off, although in hindsight, the change to fertile mucus at 9 mo pp was obvious.
condoms are the method of choice for us. the ones with no spermicide. i don't like the risks of hormonal methods and don't think i want an IUD either. i am not good at charting, so that is out.
My uterus is too small for an IUD... they like it to be 7 cm deep...mine was barely 6cm. (nak) They put in the smallest copper one and it came halfway out in less than 4 hours, so i pulled it the rest of the way out & decided to stick to charting and divine intervention. most painful procedure i've had, too.
