Being a FTM, I wanted to say thank you for posting your plan. I have not been sure how to start my own and yours has helped a lot. I have only been able to read your hospital plan though. Your midwife plan is not opening for me. I've tried through your blog posts as well. Any thoughts? I would really like to read that one as well.

TIA

I am writing 3:

The Midwife one (honestly I don't see the need, since I picked her because of her birth practices - but she wants one)

The Emergency Transfer one - Just the basics

The Non-emergency Transfer one - (that basically reads, I don't trust you, don't touch me.
:
)

I know a lot of people don't do a non-emergent transfer one, because they just assume that won't happen, but since 80-90% of transfers are for exhaustion or pain relief, it just seems like a good idea.

how? I can only read the hospital one. Even when I click on the header, it says midwife plan, but has the hospital one under it

Thanks for the links. Only the hospital one is working for me too.

My midwife and I discussed my birth plan at my visit today and she gave me an outline to take home and look over and to bring it back to my appointment in 2 weeks.

Great birth plan! I am starting mine also. A few things that you might want to think about adding:
-hepatitis shot (from the looks of your birth plan you would be against it?)
-husband or you be there when the baby is bathed
Looks good mama!

It looks like she is having a birth at a birth center (freestanding?); the first birth plan (that says "Midwife") is for the birth center; the one that says "Hospital" is below that.

Yeah. Sorry. It's confusing.

I had planned for a birth at a birth center for dd, but ended up transferring and THANK goodness that I had written a birth plan for transfer and c-section.

This time, I am planning a VBAC at a freestanding birth center but I wrote a separate birth plan in case I transfer. That way, my "real" birth plan isn't filled with stuff that doesn't apply unless I transfer. That is why there is a birth plan for the hospital and one for the midwife.

I hashed these out last night because I have a MW appt today.

I did get transferred with my last birth, and honestly, they didn't have "time" to consider my birth plan.. they just wanted me to give birth RIGHT THEN or section me. So, while I still wrote a birth plan in case of transfer, it didn't really matter, they would have done what they wanted anyway

I hope not all hossys are like that though!

I agree. I transferred with my last birth as well, and though I thought that they weren't following the birth plan to a T, I did realize that they were following it to some degree because they didn't put the eye crud in her eyes and they didn't give her any of the other stuff I said not to.
