Hmm. First thing that hits me is that it's too "regular" if that makes any sense. Try jagging up the edges a bit instead of letting it be a perfect circle. I'd also use a few different shades of brown floss and do some irregular stitches around the eggs in different directions. You could also use some more brown felt (just a bit) to give it a suggestion of a bowl-like shape on the bottom. Is that a flower child I spy on the crown as well? I can't wait to see it finished!

Make the lines you embroidered shaped more like irregular Y's. Some with one extra 'twig' sticking out, some with two. Alternate your different brown flosses between different parts of the twigs.

Thats what I was thinking. More oval or crescent shaped, like you see it from the side rather than the top. Beautiful, though!

You could still do this with a crescent moon shaped piece of the brown felt. Cut the felt so that the outside edge of the crescent matches the bottom curve of the nest. Then sew the bottom edge, leaving the crescent open at the top. The eggs will be partially covered but peeking out as well.
