Help! My daughter is turning 3 and I'm trying to find some good party favor ideas . . . I'm trying to steer clear of the bags full of candy or small toys that get thrown away. Also, we can't do a "make it and take it" party favor b/c we will have other activites for the kids.

Any good ideas out there?????? Thanks for your help!

My son had his fifth birthday party on Saturday. I found a 12-pack of brightly colored sunglasses at Target for $5 or $6, and we let each child pick a pair as he or she arrived. It was a pool party, and the sunglasses were a big hit!

Last year, I found mini water wheels on clearance, 8 for $1, and those made good favors, too. You can find summer toys CHEAP in August!

We tie dyed t-shirts for party favors this year (dyed them before the party, not at the party) and they were a huge hit. You could give puzzles, flower pot with a pack of seeds, bubbles, a book ... it does not have to be junk and can still be fun and inexpensive! My DD has received some great favors, ranging from fridge magnets to tub crayons.

If it's hot out and you don't ming the kids getting a little wet, try spray bottles they can fill with water and squirt. We found some in the shapes of bugs, frogs, veggies, etc. for under a dollar each. They're better than water pistols too!

For my daughters second birthday I made sunvisors (cost $.99 each) with each kids name on it and decorated with stickers. For my son's first birthday party (which was this weekend) we had a baseball theme and we gave cracker jacks and baseballs cards with his picture on them. One friends party they gave away plastic Nemo (the theme) cups with each kids name on them, my daughter loved that!

is there a theme.

are you oppposed to little bags of goodies or just candy and junk toys.

I like the bags of goodies. here are some good things for three year olds:
tattoos
stickers
bubbles
playdough
hair pretties for girls
scented markers
magnets (if you have someone who can do it it is fun to take a picture at the beginning of the party and then print it onto magnet sheets or sticker sheets)

yummy treats -
Cheddar Bunnies and and now they have a graham version
fruit leather
trail mix
chex mix (or some veriation there of)
string cheese
juice boxes (I guess this wouldn't be a big treat for kids who get them all the time
)
tubes of applesauce or yogurt

The dollar bins at target have also had some good scores. they change every couple of months though and I don't know if thereis anything appropriate right now.

We gave out books for my son's birthday. Borders has a bargain book section and you can often find book sets for maybe $5 or so, so you can get some books for less than 2 each. I like books because the pages, at least, can be recycled, if the books are not passed on.

Treats (can be healthy!) are good because they are consumed.

I like to stear away from plastic junk that just becomes trash.

In the baking isle of store there are packages of cookie mix, all you add is water. I think it's a Betty Crocker item. About a buck but sometimes on sale.
They can go home n make thier own lil batch of cookies with mom n dad.
