I am wondering if anyone knows of a birthing center within 2 or 3 hours of southern IL. I currently live around Jonesboro IL but am very close to Cape Girardeau MO. ANy help would be appriciated
HI! Since you are willing to drive....I just heard about this new birthing center which is about to open or might now be open. It's in St. Charles, Mo. So, probably 2.5 hour drive. http://www.mybirthandwellness.com/

I live in St. Louis, and as far as I know, this was a pretty big deal for this area.

Congrats!

Yes, there is the upcoming or newly opened Birth Center in St Charles, otherwise there is not a thing. Options for natural birth in Southern IL and the surrounding states (close enough to travel in labor, I mean) are pretty slim pickings. And I've driven to St Charles from the Carbondale area on several occasions--I can guarantee that St Charles will be at least 3hrs from Jonesboro, possibly more depending on traffic once you get to the Greater St L area.

The good news (if you would consider it good news anyway ) is that there are homebirth midwives who serve your region. Contact Friends of Missouri Midwives for more information (do a search and you'll find their website, sorry but I don't have that link to hand right now).

Good luck!
