Hi Mamas!

I am newly pregnant and have started looking for midwives in the PDX area. I live in Hillsboro, so westside is better. I've pulled up lots of threads from the archives and found lots of local info on midwives, but most of them seem to be concentrated on homebirths. Although a homebirth would be :, my DH isn't totally onboard and is much more comfotable with a birthing center setting at this point. We currently have no health insurance, but hope to soon. Not sure how that might affect my search.

I've found information on Andaluz Waterbirth Center so far. Does anyone have any experience with them? Recommend? Not?

Any other birthing centers that I am missing? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks so much for any info!

I love Andaluz. I had my second and third baby with them. They now have two birthing centers. I do not know which would be more convenient for you. I had both of my children down at their Tualitin center. You can find out more about them at www.waterbirth.net.

I had both my children at Andaluz as well, good people, good memories. If you went to their new location you would also be like 2 minutes from OHSU in case you had to transfer for any reason. Just in case that weighs into your decision. Congrats on your new pregnancy!

Thank you both for the info! Their website looks great and I am happy to hear that it is such a great place. It turns out that we live almost exactly equal distance from both locations. Knowing the Portland center is so close to OHSU will be information that I am sure DH will love. I am going to call them Monday and set up an initial meeting. So excited!:

I had my 2nd at home with Jen and Jesica of Anduluz. They were great. I had orginally planned with both to have my babies at home with Alma midwifery, Laura but she didn't want to do first time breech, but I loved her. Both their birthing centers looked awesome. I went to both for appointments. I went to the Tualatin one for Anduluz. Alma is not far from OHSU or Emanuel.

http://www.almamidwifery.com/ourmidwives.html
